Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York United States 13 October 1980. She is an American songwriter, singer and actress. Ashanti began her career as young teenagers, and she was ultimately signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. That same year she appeared with the Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured on the Fat Joe's hit song What's the Luv? The songs of Ja Rule include Foolish (number 1) and How's Luv! She became the first female artist to hold both of the highest two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 in America, with Foolish at number one and what's love at number 2.
